SIMZO The non-contact infrared thermometer, during the epidemic prevention and control period, because of its non-contact, high efficiency and convenient use, is widely used in hospitals, airport stations, agricultural trade supermarkets, residential areas and other public places, but how to correctly use the temperature measurement equipment, and what are the precautions in use, let's have a look.
What are the instruments for measuring human body temperature?
In short, it can be divided into two categories: contact thermometer and non-contact thermometer. The biggest difference between them is whether they touch the skin. Contact thermometer mainly includes glass liquid thermometer, medical electronic thermometer, etc.; non-contact thermometer mainly includes infrared ear thermometer, infrared forehead thermometer, infrared temperature screening instrument, etc.
In terms of measurement accuracy, contact thermometer is higher than non-contact thermometer.
In this epidemic prevention and control work, the most widely used are infrared thermometer and infrared screening instrument. In particular, the measuring personnel shall carefully read the instruction manual before use.
What are the technical specifications and applications of various human body infrared thermometers?

Note:
(1) The measurement data is only used for preliminary screening of abnormal human body temperature, and can not be used as medical diagnosis data;
(2) The industrial infrared thermal imager has low measurement accuracy and the maximum allowable error is more than ± 1 ℃, so it is not recommended for epidemic prevention and control.
What are the precautions for use?
Infrared ear thermometer
Check whether the ear canal is clean before use, because earwax will affect the accuracy of infrared measurement;
After each person is tested, the probe must be cleaned with alcohol cotton to prevent cross infection.

Before use, it should be set correctly according to the requirements of the manual, and switch to the temperature mode (some thermometers will be in the temperature mode by default when they are turned on);
Keep the thermometer vertical, the distance between the probe head and the forehead is generally (3-5) cm, and the measurement position is in the center of the forehead and above the eyebrow center of the human body. There is no covering such as hair and sweat on the forehead.
Why is it that the temperature measurement value of infrared thermometer is not accurate?
Generally, the ambient temperature of infrared thermometer is 16 ℃ ~ 35 ℃. However, the temperature in winter is low, most of the epidemic prevention and control monitoring points are outdoors, and the instruments used outdoors for a long time are prone to deviation;
In cold environment for a long time, the forehead temperature of the subjects will be low;
Improper measurement will also lead to inaccurate temperature measurement values, such as close to the forehead.
How to measure body temperature in low temperature environment?
In view of the fact that most of the current epidemic prevention and control monitoring points are in the outdoor environment with low temperature, the first is to prevent the infrared thermometer from being exposed for a long time, generally no more than 1 minute; the second is to use the glass thermometer to retest the temperature in case of large measurement error or temperature abnormality; the third is to check the infrared thermometer at least once every 3-5 hours.
A measuring greenhouse with relatively constant temperature and higher than 16.0 ℃ can be set up. The infrared thermometer shall be placed in the measuring room for more than 5 minutes to make its own temperature consistent with the ambient temperature. The measured personnel shall stay in the room for at least 3-5 minutes before measuring.
In general, the average value of three times of repeated measurement can be taken as the temperature measurement result.
How to check the accuracy of infrared thermometer temporarily?
In the application of infrared thermometer in screening, after the ambient temperature and other conditions change significantly, the accuracy can be checked in time with reference to the following verification methods.

Verification method
(1) Take reliable contact thermometer as reference standard;
(2) A group of comparison group with normal body temperature was selected;
(3) The body temperature of the control group was measured by the contact thermometer standard and the infrared thermometer (body temperature mode). The difference between the average temperature of the infrared thermometer and the average temperature of the contact thermometer was taken as the body temperature error, that is: body temperature error = the average temperature of the infrared thermometer - the average temperature of the contact thermometer;
(4) If the temperature error is within ± 0.5 ℃, it is considered that the statistical estimate of infrared temperature is accurate;
(5) If the temperature error exceeds ± 0.5 ℃, it is recommended to stop using.
Selection method of comparison group for normal body temperature
(1) 10, 8 or 6 persons with normal body temperature were randomly selected.
(2) The body temperature of the group was measured by contact thermometer and infrared thermometer. The measuring position of the infrared forehead thermometer is the middle point of the transverse center line of the forehead from the center of the eyebrow to the hairline. The measurement distance shall meet the requirements of the infrared thermometer manual. If the repeatability of infrared frontal thermometer is not ideal, it can be increased to 3 groups, and the temperature results are taken as the average.
(3) Calculate the body temperature deviation of each person respectively, that is: body temperature deviation = infrared frontal thermometer body temperature - contact thermometer body temperature.
(4) Rank the temperature deviation of this group from small to large, and take the persons corresponding to the middle two temperature deviations as the comparison group of the persons with normal temperature (for example, the 5th and 6th persons in the order of 10 persons)
(5) The previously determined comparison group can still be used for subsequent verification.
Special tips: infrared thermometer can only be used as a preliminary screening of temperature abnormality. When temperature abnormality is found, contact thermometer should be used for reexamination.
